ABOUT ME

Hi, my name is Jessica Harding, although people usually call me by my initials, J.C. I'm doing a combined Bachelor's and Master's in Electrical Engineering at Case Western Reserve University with my concentrations in circuits and hardware. In my spare time, I am an active member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers(IEEE), Women of Science and Engineering Roundtable(WISER), and the engineering honor society Tau Beta Pi. Right now, I'm interning as a Sr. Processor and Chip Design Intern at IBM. In my spare time, I like sewing, painting, and making wacky projects. In future I hope to use my creativity and passion to develop cutting edge hardware.

EXPERIENCE

IBM

Sr. Processor and Chip Design Intern

developing digital circuits for a processor
January 2021 - Present
  • Ran simulations in Cadence Virtuoso to validate a balancing circuit to even the total delay of rise and fall signals
  • Modified physical layout parameters to develop a precise, selectable, incremental clock delay for a diagnostic circuit
  • Ran physical design synthesis from VHDL to identify and correct layout errors
  • Modified physical layout to meet timing, power, and space requirements

Rockwell Automation

Embedded Software Co-Op

developing firmware for an industrial IO module
June 2020 - December 2020
  • Discovered and resolved errors through static analysis to make C++ code MISRA compliant
  • Developed a memory monitor to track how and where memory is stored in product throughout development
  • Wrote integration tests to verify UART driver functionality and field side error escalation handling
  • Designed and verified a multi-stage filter to satisfy required safety response timing specifications
  • Updated automation protocols to improve efficient development processes

GXC

App Dev Intern

developing a cross-platform compatible, remote education platform that provides contextualized translations for non-native speakers
June 2020 - August 2020
  • Applied Dart and Flutter to design and populate interactive selection dialogs
  • Processed data from server requests and used SQL for database requests to create responsive widgets

Terves Inc

Safety Intern

implemented workplace protocols to satisfy OSHA standards
May 2019 - August 2019
  • Designed pelletizing machine using a VFD and complementary circuitry out of spare parts
  • Developed and implemented a preventative maintenance schedule for industrial lathes and mills
  • Improved chemical tracking with a new inventory system that facilitated access to safety data sheets
  • Designed lockout/tagout documentation and training program

Sears think[box]

Prototyping Technician

working on the prototyping floor of a makerspace
August 2018 - May 2020
  • Led a team to design a robot that processes an image of the user and draws it
  • Designed and taught courses in circuit design and 3D Printing
  • Process and route gerber files to produce custom printed circuit boards
  • Quickly understand project goals to provide design feedback to local innovators
  • Responsible for the maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment malfunctions
  • Taught users how to use design softwares such as AutoCAD, Solidworks, CorelDraw, Adobe Illustrator
  • Taught users proper use of 3D printers, laser cutters, and a PCB Router

CWRU ECSE Dept

Laboratory Teaching Assistant

taught students fundamental concepts and lab techniques for Introduction to Circuits
October 2019 - May 2020
  • Led multiple, weekly 40 person lab sections
  • Taught practical application of fundamental circuit theory
  • Taught proper use of oscilliscopes, power supplies, function generators
  • Graded and provided feedback on labs and exams
